Couple of questions. 1. I did ipconfig/all and saw wi-fi direct as one of the adapters (Microsoft Wi-Fi Direct Virtual Adapter). Does it mean wi-fi direct is supported in my machine? 2. Does both machines needs wi-fi direct enabled? or one can be a host which is wi-fi direct enabled and the other can connect through wi-fi.
Hi, Thanks for your question. First may I confirm that you click “show hidden devices” in the Device Manager, then find “Microsoft Hosted Network Virtual Adapter” in the list of network devices?
The culprit is Microsoft Wi-Fi Direct Virtual Adapter. The fix is very simple, Open the device manager>View>Show hidden devices then expand Network adapters and right click on Microsoft Wi-Fi Direct Virtual Adapter and choose Disable, Restart your PC, Done. What I am observing is that when Miracast receiver (Microsoft Connect App) is launched it activates one Wi-Fi Direct Virtual Adapter and runs properly. But as soon as I start mobile hotspot also then this virtual adapter is acquired by hotspot feature and miracast gets forced closed. First of all, uninstall the wireless virtual adapter driver and restart the laptop. Right Click on the driver (that has code 10 error) and select Uninstall. Restart the laptop and check if the driver is installed. If not, right click on the driver icon and select Update driver software and then choose Search Automatically for the updated driver
Try this. Once it worked for me in Windows 10. Go to Device Manager. Go to Properties of Wi-Fi Adapter. On Properties dialog box, Click on Advanced option tab at the top. Inside the Property list, click on HT mode. Then set the box below the Value to Enabled. Click the OK button. After that check the hosted network mode by cmd command.
